On this tour we’ll visit unforgettable gardens and enjoy the countryside in one of southern England’s most idyllic corners; The Cotswolds. Here, we find an abundance of fine Stately Homes and Manor Houses, many of them have featured in films and costume dramas as well as having played major parts in history. Lose your heart in some of the most romantic gardens in the world, landscapes that will sweep you off your feet.
The Cotswolds region is a delightful tangle of roads undulating gracefully between ancient hedgerows and tiny gardens, fairytale villages with evocative stone churches, honey-colored mansions, thatched cottages and farms. Not surprisingly it was designated an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” already in 1966. A delightful mix of English traditions, amazing gardens, delicious food and relaxing village living. Visiting the Cotswolds is like entering a time capsule, but only on the surface.
Let our famous designer duo escort you to the most beautiful gardens.
One of the highlights, of course, is the visit to Highgrove Castle, the Estate of the most famous inhabitant of this region; His Royal Highness Prince Charles. This is his private paradise, where he spends most of his time and devotes his energy to transform the gardens around the house, cultivate organic vegetables and paint watercolors.
In this magnificent landscape, between the two idyllic villages of Cheltenham and Gloucester, we find the comfortable Cheltenham Chase Hotel, where we will stay during the whole tour.

You’ll have a few hours free time, to visit the impressive Cathedral, browse for original gifts or souvenirs in the quaint narrow streets, or just enjoy rural life in one of the many fine eateries. Your guides can recommend places for lunch if you wish. We’ll meet in the afternoon to continue our tour to Painswick Rococo Gardens. Here, we’ll step back in time to the elegant and sophisticated 18th century. The garden was designed by Benjamin Hyett, as an English gentleman’s pleasure garden and a place for holding rather decadent garden parties. The garden is unique as it’s the country’s only complete surviving rococo garden. Since 1984 an ambitious restoration program has transformed the garden from a woodland wilderness into a stunning place to escape the busy world. The Manor, Painswick House, and the gardens are set in a hidden valley, with lovely views of the surrounding countryside, a perfect location for intimate garden parties. Enjoy beautifully-framed views or snuggle in one of the fanciful garden buildings. When we return to the hotel we’ll have some time to relax before dinner.

Our first visit of the day will be the Gardens at Miserden. Garden writer Anna Pavord picks this among her top 10 favorite gardens to visit in the world! This lovely, timeless garden has spectacular views over a deer park and the rolling landscape of The Cotswolds beyond. It was designed in the 17th Century and still retains a unique sense of peace and calm. There are extensive hedges, and a wide variety of roses, clematis, shrubs and herbaceous plants. An ancient mulberry tree believed to have been planted in 1620. This is a hidden gem in the heart of The Cotswolds. We’ll have lunch en route to the next garden; Cerney House Gardens, another of these secretive and well hidden treasures in the region. A 17th century house surrounded by 40 acres of gardens and parkland. The garden’s character is ‘traditional’, not following any particular style but drawing from many sources. There is a herb garden, vegetable garden, knot garden, a walled Victorian garden and greenhouse, wooden gazebo, woodland, orchard and wildflower meadows. The garden forms part of Cerney House, the private home of Sir Michael and Lady Angus and their family, built around 1660. It has featured in the Magazine “Country Living”, described as «what most people aspire to in their gardens – and few achieve». In Cerney House & Garden time has stood still, with fragrances and colours of a bygone era.
Back at our hotel we’ll meet up for dinner at a local restaurant.
